The 5fth World Forum on Traditional Medicine was grandly convened in Xiamen on November 23-24
At the opening ceremony on November 23, guests including Liao Huasheng, Vice Mayor of Xiamen City, and Liu Baoyan, President of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies, attended the conference and delivered speeches, extending warm congratulations on the Forum’s commencement.
Dong Zhilin, Chairman of the World Traditional Medicine Forum, Executive Chairman of the World Federation of TCM Trade Services, and Chairman of the European Federation of TCM Societies, extended a warm welcome to all officials, experts, and representatives from around the world attending the conference.
This conference gathered nearly 10,000 attendees, including representatives from the medical and pharmaceutical industry across China and the world. It also marks the first large-scale face-to-face event in the industry since the pandemic three years ago.
The conference invited Academician Wang Qi of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine to deliver a keynote speech titled “Traditional Chinese Medicine Contributes to Achieving the Global Goal of Health for All under the Belt and Road Initiative,” sharing insights on the current development of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Belt and Road countries
During the conference, the concurrent World Traditional Medicine Forum held elections for its new council. Vice Chairman Chen Yemeng presided over the meeting. Secretary-General Guo Chunbiao reported on the work of the first council, reviewing its journey. Several council members shared their reflections, fully affirming the achievements made under Chairman Dong Zhilin’s leadership and offering hopes and suggestions for future work. The meeting reviewed and approved the inaugural council’s work report. Through voting, the second council of the World Traditional Medicine Forum was elected: Dong Zhilin (Netherlands) was appointed as Chairman of the second council; Lu Xin (UK) as Executive Chairman; and Liu Zhongliang (China), Executive President and Secretary-General of the China Medical Pharmaceutical Material Association, as Exacutive Vice Chairman.
Additionally, the assembly decided that the 6th World Traditional Medicine Forum will convene in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, from November 16-17, 2024.During the academic presentations, the forum invited 35 experts to deliver high-level lectures on traditional Chinese medicine. Speakers included Liu Baoyan, Jin Zhenyang, and Zhang Changchun from China; Zhang Shiping from Hong Kong, China; Li Tong from Canada; Chen Yemeng, Shi Lingzhi, and Ouyang Hui from the United States; Tang Tiejun and Xing Mei from the United Kingdom; Guo Chunbiao from Italy; Li Yunhai from Russia; Zheng Jianhua from Australia; Ramon Calduch from Spain; Lin Danqian from Thailand; and Reginaldo Filho from Brazil. These experts shared their clinical experiences and valuable achievements, engaging in active interaction with colleagues on-site. Participants personally experienced the charm of TCM, inherited its essence, and shared in its developmental achievements, gaining significant insights and deeply appreciating the influence of TCM overseas.
Additionally, during the inaugural World Ganoderma Conference, nine council members – including Wu Binjiang, Executive Committee Member of the 5th World Traditional Medicine Forum and President of the Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Canada – participated in an international dialogue on stage. They shared their insights, engaged in lively discussions about the development prospects of the Ganoderma industry, and explored its application value overseas.
