The First World TCM & Acupuncture Forum and Traditional Medicine Fair was convened in Argentina on 19-20 May. More than 500 delegates from over 20 countries across the world attended the forum.
The Concierge of the Argentine National Presidential Palace sent the forum a special congratulatory letter from President Macri of Argentina. The Chinese Embassy in Argentina and more than 20 Chinese medicine organisations from China and other countries also sent congratulatory letters to the forum.
<As the very first in the world, this conference was jointly organized by the World TCM Forum, the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS), China Medical and Pharmaceutical Material Association (CMPMA), and the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Service and Trade (WFCMST). The host was the Association of Acupuncture and Chinese Culture in Argentina (AACCHA).
China Chamber of Commerce for the Import and Export of Medicines and Health Products, the European Foundation of Chinese Medicine, China Journal of Acupuncture, the Argentine Traditional Medicine International Foundation, the Argentine Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Argentine Higher Education Center for Ethnical Medicine, and the Foundation of Confucius and Mencius Cultural and Philosophical Exchange co-sponsored this forum.
There were a total of 48 reports and workshops in this forum. Prof. Liu Baoyan, Chairman of the WFAS, delivered his keynote speech titled as An Overview on the Development in Clinical Research of Acupuncture and Moxibustion.
Scholars and experts of Chinese medicine from various countries introduced their own valuable clinical experience of TCM and acupuncture, including scalp acupuncture, Fu’s subcutaneous needling, space-time acupuncture, acupuncture anesthesia, special acupuncture needling techniques and other brilliant topics.
A scalp acupuncture master from the United States, Dr Shi Lingzhi, demonstrated on site her wonderful skills with very good effect by treating a Brazilian patient suffering from stroke sequela. These rich academic exchanges offered a great opportunity particularly for the acupuncture practitioners of South America who participated in the forum to get a deep understanding of the profound knowledge and charm of Chinese medicine and acupuncture.
During the forum, 20 representatives from different countries and regions including Mariano Delorenzi, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Office of the President of Argentina, Mr Meng Dongping, Vice Chair of the China Chamber of Commerce for the Import and Export of Medicines and Health Products, Prof Liu Baoyan, Chairman of WFAS, Mr Dong Zhilin, Chairman of World TCM Forum, Ms Sun Rongrong, the president of AACCHA, Mr Ramon Calduch, Chairman of the European Foundation for Chinese Medicine, Mr Chen Yemeng, the president of Pan-U.S. Chinese Association for Chinese Medicine, Mr Zheng Jianhua, the President of the Australian Association of Chinese Medicine, had a discussion on topics regarding Chinese medicine education in Argentina, legal entry of Chinese herbal products from China into Argentinean market, as well as cultivating and planting Chinese medicinal herbs in Argentina.
The results of the discussions were written and submitted to relevant departments of the Argentine and Chinese government for reference.
Leaders of Chinese medicine and acupuncture schools, presidents of the Chinese medicine associations from different countries and regions in Latin America, and some Chinese acupuncturists convened a symposium to discuss how acupuncture can develop in a healthy and orderly way in Latin American countries. Out of the discussion, they signed a memorandum of cooperation.

Yunnan delegation led by Sun Yan, deputy director of the Department of Commerce of Yunnan Province in China, successfully held a product introduction in Argentina and held a contract-signing ceremony with an Argentine importer.
At the closing ceremony, Chairman Dong Zhilin announced that the Second World TCM & Acupuncture Forum will be held in Zurich, Switzerland in June 2019.
